Description: A superb George III octagonal urn table of the finest West Indian satinwood, incorporating a games board in the top. This unusual piece is delicately formed, the intricately veneered octagonal top with a marquetry inlaid border, segmented satinwood veneers and lighter shade of satinwood used to create the games board, possibly used to play a form of cribbage, with excellent detailing throughout. Under the top is a retractable mixing bowl slide and is supported by ebony strung curved supports, united with a shaped stretcher at the knee and then continue to form a tri-cabriole leg base which is strung with ebony and decorated with trailing flowers. The legs terminate in dainty hoof feet.
A very unusual piece with fabulous quality throughout.
Further Information: This table was exhibit No 165 at the BADA Art Treasures Exhibition in the UK city of Bath in 1958.
Condition: Excellent. Possible minor old restorations, waxing.
